(VPI), the nation’s first and largest provider of pet health insurance, analyzed its database of more than 500,000 insured pets to find out how many furry, four-legged friends have names in common with famous movie pets.Below is VPI’s list of the top 10 most common movie pet monikers from its database of more than half million pet names (total number of pets sharing that name in parenthesis):
Top 10 Romance-Inspired Pet Names
1. Milo (1,130) - "The Adventures of Milo and Otis"
2. Otis (558) - "The Adventures of Milo and Otis"
3. Sassy (532) - "Homeward Bound"
4. Shiloh (309) - "Shiloh"
5. Toto (105) - "Wizard of Oz"
6. Babe (98) - "Babe"
7. Jinx (88) - "Meet the Parents"
8. Beethoven (33) - "Beethoven"
9. Lassie (21) - "Lassie Come Home"
10. Snowbell (3) - "Stuart Little"
In terms of other Academy Award-related pet names in the VPI database, there are 1,208 pets named “Oscar,” nine pets named “Ellen” (this year’s host is Ellen DeGeneres), and even one “Cinema.” Surprisingly, there wasn’t a single pet named “Uggie” after the Jack Russell terrier who starred in “The Artist,” the 2011 Academy Award winner for Best Picture.
