Award-Winning Veterinary Medical Writer Joins VPI

(VPI), the nation’s oldest and largest provider of pet health insurance, has bolstered its commitment to the veterinary community with the addition of respected and award-winning veterinary medical writer Gina Spadafori to its marketing and communications team.

Spadafori is perhaps best known in the veterinary community as the writing partner of Dr. Marty Becker, the lead veterinarian for and a regular on “Good Morning America” and “The Dr. Oz Show.” The pair have written 14 books together, and Spadafori additionally has authored or co-authored the first three books in the “… For Dummies” pet-care series: “Dogs For Dummies,” “Cats For Dummies” (with Paul D. Pion, DVM, DACVIM) and “Birds For Dummies” (with Brian L. Speer, DVM, DABVP-Avian). She has also written a nationally syndicated pet-care column for Universal Uclick while contributing hundreds of articles for media platforms as diverse as Scholastic Magazine and She has also worked for the Veterinary Information Network (, where she managed VIN’s content areas for pet owners.

Additionally, Spadafori brings high-level experience in strategic communications and brand management. She will be working with Dr. McConnell to develop content and products across all media platforms aimed at helping veterinarians to compete successfully in a challenging and evolving marketplace.
